A quiet week for new releases as we approach the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend so just a couple of new tracks to add. Firstly, we have a re-release of the Calvin Harris Classic I’m Not Alone that featured as Steve’s Track of the Week, last week. The other addition is the follow up to our previous playlist hit from Peter118. You may have already heard Money and Lies on the air but this time we bring you more of the band’s Pop-Punk stylings with their new release Waiting.

As usual here’s the complete list with links to download/preview them from iTunes and Amazon below.

  • Waiting – Peter 118

N.B. If you can’t see the links to iTunes and Amazon and you are using an ad-blocker, add us to your ‘white-list’ and then they should work fine.

Whilst media is our “bread and butter”, Access has always wanted to support projects that make a practical difference in people’s lives. That’s why we run training programmes for unemployed people alongside our broadcast activities in the UK and also promote international projects which tackle poverty such as Soul Action South Africa.

So we’re pleased to announce our latest collaboration with the non-profit body, Cancer Cure Trust.  The trust is headed by one of the Access trustees, Gareth Littler, who many of our supporters will know from his achievements running the national broadcast charity UCB.

All the details for the project can be found at the project’s Virgin Money Giving page here or by clicking on the image above. You can also donate through that page via Access and UK tax payers can add a further 25% onto their donation for free via the Gift Aid scheme.

The story Steve discussed a few minutes ago featured a potential use for the music of Skrillex in combatting the pesky (and potentially deadly) mosquito. So Steve wanted to know your stories of when music has had unintended consequences. Is there a song that drives your dog daft? Or has a particular tune ever played at a particularly inconvenient moment?

No need for an introduction for this week’s Track of the Week artist as Calvin Harris has been in the public eye for a number of years with streams of hits and collaborations with many of the world’s top vocalists.

I’m Not Alone was one of his biggest hits and there’s a new version for 2019 which caught our eye so we thought we’d feature it as Track of the Week

A couple of Iceland related stories caught Steve’s Eye this week. One story about some tourists on a beach who nearly got caught in a tidal wave caused by a crumbling Glacier and the other about the Icelandic Mayors who are complaining about how Google doesn’t portrays their towns in the best light as the photos have too much snow on them!

That got Steve thinking about on two subjects. Firstly, the strangest things that have happened to you on a beach and also times when you haven’t perhaps been seen in the best light. (Occasions when people have got caught in a rain shower just before a job interview, for example).

Let us know your thoughts on our Facebook or Twitter pages!

You can watch the video in question below and you can the full article about the complaints to Google on the BBC website by clicking here or on the image above.
