Access – Building Update

moving-house-stressWe just thought we’d add a quick post to update you with our building issues that we are experiencing at the moment. (If you want to read the full story behind this click here for the original article).

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers at this time. We have found to temporary accommodation (Thanks to Chris, Andy and all at Majestic Studios in Stoke for your help there.) This will allow us to continue our on-line social enterprise operation for the time being and our radio is still running on a greatly reduced service. However, we still don’t have a long-term a solution, in particular we’ve been unable to re-open the retail side of our social enterprise operation,  The Book End.

So although the urgent need for storage has passed, we still need help from those who live in and around the Stoke area, or have connections there you may be able to help us more directly.

We’re still looking for a retail space in one of Stoke’s town centre’s where we can also set up an office area. Some smaller rooms for studios would also be useful. If you have such a premises in the North Staffs area, know someone who does or just have a suggestion about a building we’d be really grateful. The best way to respond is via our Facebook page (Click on the Facebook box on the right of this page to go there) or by using the contact form below.

As I mentioned in the earlier article, our finances are being hit hard by the unexpected move. There is always the possibility of applying for funding to cover future building costs. However, that takes time and so a landlord who, in the short-term, could provide rent-free space on a rolling short-term lease would be ideal. (Landlords can benefit from not paying rates not paying rates on the property and get a free caretaker!)

If you can help or know anyone else who can help at all in this we’d be really grateful. As I mentioned in the last article, Access makes a big difference to many people’s lives through our media, training, and community projects. It would be a huge shame if we have to scale back or even stop operating completely. So if you can help in any way, please do.

Thank you in advance
