Stoke Art Map Extra – Poetry Focus with Gabriella Gay, ‘Murdok’ and ‘The Slow Poet’

re-worked-vcc-photo-with-logoAnother installment in our series of interviews from the “Stoke Art Map” in which Steve Perry looks at how artists have helped to regenerate a small northern town. In this update we have a poetry focus. Gabriella Gay co-owns the innovative ‘Valentine’s Curious Closet’ a shop and art space located in the town centre. For the Art Map Celebrations the focus was on poetry but Steve started off by asking Gabriella and more about the store.

Later in the day  Steve caught up with two of the ‘Roving Poets’ that Gabriella had mentioned, ‘Murdok’ (Ben Mcdonald Evans) and ‘The Slow Poet’ (Jason Nicholas Smith) and had a brief chat. He started by asking them about the Art Map itself.

During the interview we also heard some poetry from Ben and Jason. We hear from Jason later in the recording but first Ben started by explaining the backgorund to his poem.
